Maman Dungu is a foundation led by strongly committed volunteers who by their actions are dedicated to change the disastrous economic and social situation of the region Dungu in the D.R. Congo and make of this region a green and modern community in the 21st century.
We are an accredited movement that promotes and defends our environment and support our rich flora and fauna.
Maman Dungu was founded in 2005 to campaign against extreme poverty, deforestation, laziness, the spread of HIV/aids in our villages and the multiple forms of violence against women, adolescent girls and most especially children.
Since then, the Foundation Maman Dungu has grown significantly, in particular through the expansion and consolidation of women right in a patriarchal cultural zone, through the awareness of the danger of the HIV/aids virus and through the consolidation of the local civil society with the election (2 times) of a member of Maman Dungu as the regional coordinator.
Some important progress has been made, including 271 orphan children who have been schooled in primary and secondary schools and now 12 are in the universities.
Private farming of Cocoa has grown wider. Our coalitions have now grown even to Flanders, Belgium with the technical support of Tectero bvba, and the Electrical Energy Laboratory (EELAB), Ghent University.
Our ambition is starting in 2020 to transform a primitive village into a modern one, where people have access to basic needs and are trained to foster development opportunities and green entrepreneurship. We expect that partnerships around the world would join and explore the novelties and new techniques linked with renewable energy applications in the Dungu area. This Maman Dungu approach will be a prime model against climate resilience and uncontrolled migration from Sub-Sahara Africa to Europe.
